New York musical superstar Adam Gwon has penned a little gem about the refreshingly honest and funny connections people make in the Big Apple.
Under the direction of St. Albert’s Steven Angove, Ordinary Days tells the story of four young New Yorkers whose lives intersect as they search for fulfilment, happiness, love and cabs.
It all starts when Deb loses her precious graduate thesis. This seemingly random event sets off a firestorm of events that turns the lives of these four New Yorkers into extraordinary moments in time.
Anybody who has struggled to find beauty and values the simple things in a complex and hectic place can appreciate the score of catchy songs.
Ordinary Days stars are Mark Sinongco, Adrianne Salmon, Kristin Johnston and Brian MacDougall. Arielle Ballance, another former St. Albert actress-musician, provides accompaniment.

For the aristocrats, the world holds a patina of wealth, glamour, hidden seductions and dark secrets. The lower class instead breeds starched loyalty and conniving schemes.
It’s 1901 and the new century ushers in a new king, and a new age of science, philosophy, automobiles, suffragettes and corn flakes. The Earl of Clopshire struggles to maintain his country estate and ancestral home.
His son has joined the navy, his daughter wears trousers and his wife is up to who-knows-what with the swarthy groundskeeper. The world as he knows it is falling apart.
It’s Die-Nasty’s 23rd season. Twenty-three regional top-tier improvisers including St. Albert son Matt Alden created this long-running institution.
This spontaneous gem plays every Monday night from Oct. 21 to May 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Varscona Theatre, 10329 – 83 Avenue. Tickets are $13 or $9 with a $30 membership. Season’s pass is $250 to $300.
