If you are looking for that right seasonal concert, look no more. There are a series of collaborative performances now underway, and the live music is some of the richest in the area.

Below is a listing of Christmas concerts slated to happen within the next few days. They are all dynamic ensembles with modestly priced programs held in the intimate settings of churches.

The Mill Creek Colliery band rings in the season with a delightful mix of festive gems. Under the direction of David Hoyt, the British style brass band is pumped to present selections that range from Russian Christmas Music and Hava Nagila to Ding Dong Christmas and Selections from Coldplay.

Artistic director Jordan van Biert wants to create a Christmas concert that produces a warm, fuzzy feeling. In Create a Canadian Christmas, the choir’s third annual seasonal concert, the vocalists will feature the music of Mark Sirett, Healey Willan, Ivo Antognini, Jon Washburn and Stephen Chatman.

Tickets are $15 to $17 and are available at the door.

The Concordia choirs invite the public to shut out the world of commercialism by joining them for a concert and sing-along. The seasonal music includes a variety of composers and genres from spirituals and Mozart to Canadian composers Denis Bedard and David MacIntyre.

Following the choral singing, the audience will be invited to join in a sing-along. Reverend Lorne Manweiler will accompany on organ.

Tickets are $12 to $15 at the door. Special family admission for $40.

Edmonton Vocal Minority’s salute to the season is a cross between a concert and a party, a much-anticipated event for many. Performances by both choirs are interspersed with activities for the audience.

Refreshments are provided and a wrap-up is a traditional sing of Christmas songs.

Once again revered conductor Robert de Frece picks up the baton to conduct the Greenwood Singers in a broad repertoire from Renaissance motets to 20th century carols and popular holiday songs. A showcase piece is Canadian composer Healey Willan’s The Mystery of Bethlehem.

A pick-up four-piece with organist Marnie Giesbrecht, pianist Helen Stuart, bassist Jeff Johnson and percussionist Murray Smith accompany the choir.
