Under the direction and production design of Bretta Gerecke, Catalyst Theatre remounts Elephant Wake, one of its seminal productions.
First developed in 1996 by playwright Joey Tremblay, past co-artistic director with Jonathan Christenson, it is a hauntingly beautiful and enchanting tale dedicated to the illusions created by memory.
In this one-man show, Tremblay takes his audience into the intimate world of Jean Claude, the last resident of a fictional small Saskatchewan town. He reminisces about aging and recreates whimsical characters from the past that were long ago blown away by prairie winds.
In Jean Claude’s world, where nostalgia collides with progress, he peels away the layers of his life and we meet his friends, family and town.
This 90-minute show, with no intermission, takes place at C103, 8529 Gateway Blvd. It runs November 12 to 29 at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $20 to $26. Visit catalystheatre.ca for information and tickets.
