TELUS’ community powered funding program, STORYHIVE, launched a new music video series on Monday, April 6. It offers emerging filmmakers and musicians in Alberta and British Columbia the opportunity to secure up to $40,000 in funding as well as distribution opportunities.
STORYHIVE recently hosted beta, short film and a web series edition and is now focusing on music videos.
Here is how it works. Creators first pitch their concept sending a video idea and plan for the production.
Successful applicants move to phase two where the community votes for the first round of pitches from each province and promotes them on social networks.
The third and final phase is the awards and screen time where favourites receive funding to produce their video project. Twenty finalists will receive a cool $10,000 to produce a music video.
The final winners will be announced in August and will win $30,000 to produce another music video and documentary as well as content distribution on TELUS Optik TV On Demand.
Entry deadline is Sunday, April 26. To apply visit storyhive.com/music-videos.
