It’s a rare day when Martha Livingstone, co-founder of Visionary College, hangs up her instructor’s hat and stands in front of a microphone.

Tonight at O’Maille’s Pub, Livingstone is taking a break from music classrooms to sing some of her favourite rock, country, indie rock and classic rock tunes.

The petite performer blessed with powerful vocals also sings some of her originals such as Where Are You, a dedication to a deceased brother, and Something in the Air, a chart on how friendship can morph into love without either party knowing what caused the shift.

“I enjoy performing around town. And as a teacher I think it’s important to stay connected with the music scene,” said Livingstone.

Show starts at 8:30 p.m. O’Maille’s Pub is at 398 St. Albert Trail.

The St. Albert Legion Lounge has always been a great place to tell war stories. However, on Saturday, March 14, it will be converted into an intimate dance floor for a night of moves and grooves of international styles – tango, salsa, two-step, waltz and West Coast swing.

Sabrina’s Dance Instruction has partnered with The Black Key Trio to encourage ballroom dancers to stop by for a night of hot beats. For some dancers, the evening is a creative outlet. For others it’s an opportunity to work off tension and tone up muscles.

In addition to encouraging fun, the evening will have door prizes and a raffled draw with proceeds going to St. Albert SAIF (Stop Abuse in Families).

The evening of dance runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is $10 per person at the door. The Legion Lounge is located at 6 Taché St.

The Alberta Association of Motion Picture and Television Unions is looking for feature film scripts of any genre to a maximum of 250 works.

There are three prizes and a professional workshop. First prize is $1,000, second and third prize are respectively $500 and $250.

Deadline for this award is Monday, March 16. For more information call 780-422-8174 or visit writersguild.ca.
