Oh Boy, Buddy Holly! steps into a little town in nowhere Alberta where students at Shallow Water High have spent their entire Grade 12 writing letters to rock ’n’ roll stars inviting them to perform at the grad prom.

The students try a variety of campaigns and the whole town believes at least one star will appear. What no one expects is that Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers and Miss Patti Page show up for that special night.

This three-act comedy plays at Jubilations in West Edmonton Mall until April 12. For ticket information call 780-484-2424.

Singer-songwriter Phil Biega is releasing his debut worship album on Feb. 15 at the St. Albert Alliance Church.

Dark to Light, recorded at Rec Room Studio with sound engineer Ken Hoefling, is Biega’s personal journey with life’s struggles.

The 12-track covers a spiritual territory starting with I Am More, a song that delves into an individual’s identity; Into the Light, a declaration to Jesus; and the title track that speaks to the reality of joining Jesus.

A full band joins Biega at this two-hour show. Opening the concert is rap singer Landry, a worship leader at Christ Church. Landry will also be releasing his own EP.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. No gate admission. Concertgoers are asked to bring a donation of socks, mitts, toques and underwear for Hope Mission.

St. Albert Alliance Church is on Villeneuve Road, one kilometre west of St. Albert Trail.
