The Parisian theatre company Theatre Fools and Feathers takes laughter to a new level with Le Destin tragic-comique de Tubby et Nottubby.
Premiering at L'UniThéâtre in La CitĂ© francophone from Jan. 29 to Feb. 1, it is the tale of two larger than life figures, Tubby and Nottubby, who through a chance encounter meet on Christmas Eve.
They are in the throes of despair and the run-in propels them on an extraordinary journey from the banks of the Thames to a place beyond reality.
This two-hander is written, directed and performed by Sophie Bech and Louis Fortier. The Shakespearian inspired clown show blends the worlds of tragedy and comedy. Filled with tenderness and humour, it brings out the child in all of us.
English surtitles run through the show. La Cité francophone is located at 8627 Rue Marie-Anne Gaboury. Tickets are $26 and are available at www.lunitheatre.ca or at the box office before the show.
There’s a new addition to the Pro Coro Canada family of choirs and it debuts on Sunday, Jan. 25 at All Saints Cathedral.
The choir, titled Pro Coro #connect, was developed as a project for ambitious young singers interested in working with conductor Michael Zaugg and being mentored by the more experienced Pro Coro singers.
The ultimate goal was to prepare the younger singers to pursue a career either as vocal performers or land a berth with the Pro Coro Chamber singers.
The eclectic repertoire includes works from Felix Mendelssohn, Eric Whitacre and Johan Soderqvist to name a few.
The performance starts at 2:20 p.m. All Saints is located at 10035 – 103 St. Tickets are $20 and are available at 780-428-1414 or online at winspearcentre.com.
