There’s a new adult theatre group in town and it’s holding auditions this coming Monday, Nov. 21 for the Norm Foster comedy Opening Night.

St. Albert Theatre Troupe, which reunites the team of Danielle Pearce and Mark McGarrigle, is hoping to stage this comedy in February 2012 as a dinner theatre production.

Opening Night is a quirky look at a middle-age couple that goes to the theatre to spiff up their dull life. As the opening night production threatens to unravel, so does their relationship.

Auditions will be held at Ronald Harvey School, 15 Langley Dr., at 6:30 p.m. There are five male roles and three female roles.

Auditions involve a cold reading. Scripts will be supplied and prep time allotted.

For further information call Mark McGarrigle at 780-668-9522 or email: [email protected].

Today, Prairie Bistro’s first fashion show puts the spotlight on Edmonton designer Maggie Walt’s newest fall collection.

Marina Michaelides, director of marketing and communication, has scheduled various events starting with a trunk sale at 1 p.m., followed by wine tasting at 3:30 p.m. The afternoon centrepiece is the 4 p.m. fashion show consisting of holiday wear, coats, jackets and dresses.

“Maggie takes exotic silks and velvets inspired by the beautiful cultures of the Far East. Her clothes are lush and they are a real pickup. They’re beautiful designs and they make you feel feminine,” says Michaelides.

Prairie Bistro is located at the Enjoy Centre, 101 Riel Dr. There is no charge.

If musicals are your cup of tea, check out the 30-man Grove City Barbershop Harmony today at their annual Barbershop Goes Broadway concert.

The a cappella choir will be crooning tunes such as Come Fly With Me, Over the Rainbow and Feel So Young.

Their special guests are Glee Club Riot, a Washington group that was a whisker away from reaching international stature.

Showtimes are 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Ellerslie Road Baptist Church, 1603 Ellerslie Road. Tickets are $10 to $20. Call 780-420-1757; tickets also available at the door.
