Morinville’s 35th annual Community Christmas Celebration returns Thursday, December 19 at the newly renovated St. Jean Baptiste Church.

This interdenominational evening features Christmas music and readings from a variety of groups including the Morinville Minstrels Senior Choir, student choirs from local schools, and musicians and singers from local churches.

For many Morinvillians, it is a time when the “Spirit of Giving” is in abundance and participants are asked to donate monetary funds or food to the Knights of Columbus Christmas hampers.

The celebration starts at 7:30 p.m. For further information, contact committee member Nadine Trenchard at 780-939-3903.

After three successful years, Whizgiggling Productions in partnership with Spirit of Newfoundland Productions, jumps into the holiday season feet first with The Best Newfoundland Christmas Pageant…Ever!

This is no ordinary pageant. Mrs. O’Brien has just been stuck with directing the annual Christmas pageant. It’s always the same and seems like a breeze until the Herdsmen family shows up.

These three kids are the black sheep of the bunch. Christmas to them means a hamper at the door. Intrigued by the play, they demand to be cast. And what seems like an impending disaster turns into the best Christmas ever.

The cast features Jack Black, Kayla Gorman, Natalie Czar Gummer, Cheryl Jameson, Corben Kushneryk, Graham Mothersill and Lindsay Walker.

The production runs Dec. 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday. Tickets are $22 for adults, $20 seniors/students/children. Call 780-420-1757 or go online to: www.tixonthesquare.ca
