Time to get your stink on
In case you haven't heard, Sorrentino's annual Garlic Festival is now in full swing until the end of April. Proceeds go to Sorrentino's Compassion House, a retreat for out-of-town women receiving cancer treatment.
Each night this month, Sorrentino's chefs prepare a garlic feast that touches on every aspect of the menu from appetizers, soups, salads and pizza to pasta, risotto, main appetizers and sweets.
For lovers of the sweet-smelling rose, there is no more palette-pleasing evening than the Big Garlic Night slated for Wednesday, April 26 when five per cent of all sales go to Compassion House.
Reservations can be made at Sorrentino's St. Albert by calling 780-459-1411. The Italian restaurant is located at 595 St. Albert Trail.

Zenato wines are marketed as “the soul of Lugano and the heart of Valpolicella.”
Alberto Zenato will uncork the older Lugana San Benedetto and Santa Christina blends featured along with the newer Evaluna, Amore and Recioto.
Limited seating. Business attire only. Tickets are $125 per person. Private Wine Locker Club member price is $99 per person. Call 780-459-1411 to reserve.
Local chef promotes culinary scholarships
Chef Peter Keith, formerly of the Hardware Grill and Shaw Conference Centre, is participating in Northern Lands Meet Your Makers event, a Shaw Conference Centre festival of food and drink.
The Paul Kane High alumnus started his career enrolled in school culinary classes following it up with NAIT's two-year program.
Keith was one of the first recipients of the Canadian Culinary scholarship as part of the High School Culinary Challenge program created by chef Simon Smotkowicz.
The program provided culinary students the opportunity to compete in an elite cooking competition with a chance to receive a full-ride scholarship to NAIT.
Proceeds from the Northern Lands event will continue the endowment. And for Keith, now a working chef, culinary instructor and member of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Culinary Fund, it's the opportunity to assist emerging chefs.
Individual tickets for Meet Your Makers are available for Saturday, May 6. Tickets are $95. Visit northernlands.ca.
