YEG Canvas

The new rotation of artworks is now on display for the Edmonton Arts Council's third annual public art project. Look for new works on various billboard and LRT poster locations throughout the capital city. A new set of the limited edition #YEGCanvas trading cards will also be available at EAC events.

Upcoming events and news

The St. Albert Arts Exchange offers a meeting place for "culturally minded community members" to network and create synergies within the city's vibrant arts community. Cultural Services staff will be on hand for an information session on the various types of funding, grants and awards that are available to local artists, arts organizations, and supporters of the arts. It takes place tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Progress Hall at the Arden Theatre. Free admission. Please RSVP through Eventbrite. Isachsen is an exhibit by St. Albert filmmaker, cinematographer, photographer, and multimedia artist aAron Munson, with other sculpture and sound components contributed by David Hoffos, Dara Humniski, and Gary James Joynes. It runs at dc3 Art Projects from Fri., Jan. 12 through Sat., Feb. 17. An opening reception will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Artists will be in attendance. Art Battle 622 comes to Edmonton this Saturday starting at 6:30 p.m. A dozen artists go head-to-head to paint the best and fastest and win the audience's favours. There are three rounds of action with one winner at the end of the evening. Whoever gets crowned goes on to the next level of competition, all the way up to the national level. It runs 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 13 at Casino Yellowhead, 12464 153 St. in Edmonton. Tickets are $15 to $25 and can be purchased at artbattle.ticketfly.com.

The Musée Héritage Museum is getting set to show Taste of Science, an exhibit created by the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum. Learn about the science of food and its preservation. It opens on Tues., Jan. 16 and will run until Sun., March 25. www.museeheritage.ca
