The Edmonton Arts Council’s award-winning urban art exhibition has returned to bring visual culture to the cityscape. It features 45 new artworks by 38 artists displayed on 10 billboards located throughout Edmonton. Artists include Allison Argy-Burgess and Karen Klassen. Until the end of the month.

The St. Albert Painters’ Guild will be putting on Oh Canada, its annual art show and sale, this weekend at St. Albert Place. It runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. An opening reception with a special Canada 150 celebration will be held on the Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Artists will be in attendance. paintersguild.wildapricot.org

The St. Albert Potters' Guild has its own Spring Pottery Sale coming up May 4 to 6 also in St. Albert Place, with the opening reception to be held in conjunction with ArtWalk. www.stalbertpotters.ca

Karen Blanchet has a few upcoming shows at different venues. Alberta Branded features some of her work for the Common Ground showcase on display for the full year. The gallery is on the main floor of the Federal Building at 9820 107 St. She will also have a display of her work for the Blue Gallery at the Glenrose Rehab Hospital, 10230 111 Ave. in Edmonton. That will run until May 1.

St. Albert’s ArtWalk takes place on Thursday, May 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be eight venues including WARES, St. Albert Public Library, MusÉe HÉritage Museum, A Boutique Gallery Bar By Gracie Jane, Art Gallery of St. Albert (and its Rental and Sales Gallery), Bookstore On Perron, VASA Gallery, and The Collective. Future ArtWalks will take place on June 1, July 6, Aug. 3 and Sept. 7. www.artwalkstalbert.com

VASA will be showing Nature’s Garden featuring the works of Al Anderson, Connie Osgood, Miles Constable, Judy Schafers, Memory Roth, Victoria Armstrong, Rayma Peterson, Peg McPherson and Cheryl Moskaluk. The Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts presents Five Waves of Inspiration, a special community exhibition celebrating 125 years of Ukrainian immigration to Canada and the influence that the five distinct waves of this country’s immigration have had on the arts community in Alberta. Among the numerous featured artists is the late Lawrence Kenakin who was a teacher at Lorne Akins Junior High School. Works come from the collections of the Ukrainian Canadian Archives and Museum of Alberta, Ukrainian Museum of Canada – Alberta Branch, Bohdan Medwidsky Ukrainian Folklore Archives, Basilian Fathers Museum, Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada Museum, Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, Shevchenko Foundation, and Ukrainian Shumka Dancers. Five Waves runs from May 3 to 28 at the Art Gallery of Alberta, 2 Sir Winston Churchill Square. The opening reception is set for Saturday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m.
