STAGE, St. Albert’s premier adult community theatre group, is searching for great as-yet-undiscovered musical talent for an upcoming cabaret fundraiser.

The fundraiser, highlighted with a Dirty 30s theme, will be held at Apex Casino on Saturday, April 16.

Auditions for spots will be held Sunday at Leo Nickerson School from 4 to 6 p.m. Signage will be set up to direct traffic.

The format is a vocal range test and a song of your choice. Accompaniment will not be provided, however singers are welcome to bring a recording, play their own instrument or sing a cappella.

Volunteers are also needed to help organize and co-ordinate the event. Email [email protected] for more information.

David “Crawdad” Canterra returns once more to LB’s Pub for another round of bluegrass blues at Ammar’s Open Stage this coming Tuesday.

Canterra, one of Edmonton’s finest harmonica musicians, hosts his own respected open stage at Newcastle Pub and lately has worked with The Shade Tree Mechanics, Jimmy and the Sleepers, The Flying Crawdads and the Front Porch Roots Review.

Jim Donnett and Dave Bridges join Canterra to fill out the evening with their honky-tonk blues. Donnett, one of the subtlest guitar players around, has R&B roots and played with funky blues trio Spot Jibaroo.

And Bridges, an accredited bassist, toured with Harpdog Brown in his heyday and now plays with Rusty Reed and the Fabulous Canolatones.

Ammar’s jam is at LB’s Pub at 9 p.m. No cover.
