The CHICKAdivas return to St. Albert with an abbreviated version of their traditional Christmas sugar plum concert.
Too busy to build a formal event, the a cappella fivesome is performing a public rehearsal on Saturday, Dec. 18 at Visionary College, where CHICKAdiva alto singer Bartha Hartman-Stehlin also teaches voice.
Rounding out the Chicks is soprano Rebecca Patterson, mezzo-soprano Regina Landeck, mezzo-soprano Marion McFall and alto Dena Epp.
The Chicks continue their tradition of offering food and they ask everyone to bring a plate of their favourite goodies for a Christmas cookie potluck.
The sing-along runs 4 to 5:30 p.m. Admission is free and non-perishable items for the St. Albert Food Bank are accepted.
Teatro La Quindicina presents It’s a Wonderful Life at the Varscona Theatre from Dec. 16 to 18 for four performances only.
Remounted as a live radio version of the Frank Capra/Jimmy Stewart motion picture, it brings back George Bailey, an earnest banker who stands accused of fraud.
Intent on committing suicide, George is rescued in the nick of time by an angel who shows him all the lives he’s touched and the contributions he’s made over the years to his community.
This tale of redemption is performed in full period costume with live music and sound effects. Leading the cast are Jeff Haslam and Davina Stewart as George and Mary Bailey with Leona Brausen, Kendra Connor, Cathy Derkach, Tom Edwards, Andrew MacDonald-Smith and Mark Meer.

The Mill Creek Colliery Band celebrates the holiday season with a Home for the Holidays anthem tomorrow at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
The 28-piece British style brass band performs at the Leduc Family Worship Centre with tunes such as Christmas Angel, Carol of the Bells and Greensleeves.
