Inti-Illimani, the internationally celebrated instrumental and vocal ensemble from Chile, has cancelled their appearance at the Arden Theatre on Thursday, Oct. 1. They were scheduled to partner with Francesca Gagnon, the voice of Cirque du Soleil’s Alegria.
“Unfortunately the sponsor that covered their airfare pulled out,” said Arden spokesperson Sherri Drewe.
There are possible negotiations under way for Inti-Illimani to appear at an Edmonton-area theatre in the spring of 2011, “but it won’t be the Arden,” Drewe added.

Aerosmith, with more than 150 million albums sold worldwide, brings its Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock Tour to Rexall Place on Tuesday, Sept. 14, and tickets have just been released.
Opening for the hard-rock bad boys from Boston are special guests Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, an act with eight platinum and gold albums, and nine Top-40 singles.

It never ceases to amaze bar patrons how well Mark Ammar, host of Ammar’s Tuesday Moosehead Open Stage, is connected in local music circles. He’s one drummer who seems to know everyone.
This coming Tuesday, Ammar has invited bassist Scott Morgan, guitarist Brian (Breezy) Gregg and drummer Pascal Lecours to the popular local open jam.
Of Lecours, Ammar said, “His recent appearance at the Beaumont Blues Festival was well deserved. We will feature Pascal on guitar and vocals this night, and he really brings out a different style mixing reggae with an almost folky-funk feel.”
Gregg, a major part of Edmonton’s music scene for four decades, was once an opening act for Led Zeppelin in the early 1970s. “Brian also deserves bragging rights as the world’s first electric busker, and he can be found in and around Whyte Avenue playing electric.”
And finally, Morgan was the original Moosehead house bassist and played alongside blues artist Lorne Burnstick. “Scott has a great knack for dynamics and can sit in comfortably with all types of styles of music.”
The open jam is this coming Tuesday at 9 p.m. at LB’s Pub, 23 Akins Dr. No cover charge.
