Billy (Ringo) Boissonneault and Randy Forsberg have scored a lifetime of playing with different bands. On Tuesday night they appear at Ammar’s Open Jam and they’re not shy about showing what they can do.
Forsberg, also known as Big Daddy, plays a mean bass guitar. His reputation started back in his touring days with Bo Diddley. An Edmontonian, he’s played with almost every musician on the music scene for the past 30 years and is now with The Vindicators and Blue Yonder.
Boissonneault instead moved to Edmonton exactly a decade ago. Since then he’s racked up an impressive list of credits including a jingle for a CMT music special, tours to Europe and TV appearances.
As a guitarist he’s been invited to the Big Valley Jamboree, Merritt Mountain Music Festival, the Brier and Scott Tournament of Hearts.
“Billy became a multi-instrumentalist at age seven showing a gift for guitar, bass and mandolin,” says Ammar adding that Boissonneault won the Canadian Country Open Singing Contest and later in 1995 he went on to win the Bud Country Talent Contest.
“This award proved a tribute not only to performance, but to his song-writing as well.”
The jam starts at 9 p.m. at LB’s Pub, 23 Akins Drive. No cover charge.
