The legend continues as Cirque du Soleil’s latest show Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour continues to break all records.
And there are still a few seats left at Rexall Place for the November 2 performance.
By all accounts, Cirque continues to use its fail-safe recipe – plenty of razzle dazzle that fuses visuals, dance, music and fantasy.
The Immortal World Tour is not exactly a rock concert or a dance show. Instead it’s a flamboyant fast-paced spectacle that introduces us to Jackson’s inspirational ‘Giving Tree’, the wellspring of his creativity.
Through the Giving Tree, the secrets of Jackson’s world are peeled back – his love of music and dance, fairy tale magic and the fragile beauty of nature.

Two teachers from Visionary College are brewing up a pot of jazz infused music at Bacchus Café and Wine Bar tonight at 7 p.m.
Singer Martha Livingstone and pianist Curtis Labelle are planning a sparkling evening of jazz standards and jazz versions of rock. Joining them is Nathan Ouellette on drums.
“We’re going to do Heart, Lady Gaga and Billy Idol,” says Livingstone, as well as several golden oldies such as Cry Me A River, Summertime and Don’t Get Around Much Anymore.
“Our idea is to do interesting versions of songs people already know,” she said.
Livingstone and Labelle have spent the last year taking their gig to corporate events and occasionally they’ve added a third player to create a richer sound.
“We brought in Nathan because we wanted to have more energy for this performance,” Livingstone says.
Showtime is at 7:30 p.m. Bacchus is at 21 Perron Street. No cover.
Take ’70s pulp science fiction and throw in a few actors and you have Book on Tape, a play about time travel, destiny and future ruled by nerds with very stupid names.
Targ Wildstar returns to the past to make sure Jen Bennett does what she was born to do (but is unaware of it). With the help of his friends Declyn Explodingmountains and N.A.D.S., Targ tries to put Jen on a course that will save the world from a certain and implausible fate.
This multi-media jaunt, starring Trent Wilkie and Joleen Ballandine, is Wilkie’s third full play, a work that mixes modern themes with ridiculous satire.
Book on Tape runs Oct. 6 to 9 and 12 to 15 at the TransAlta Arts Barn, PCL Studio at 10330 – 84 Ave. Tickets are $10. Call 780-409-1910 or online at www.fringetheatre.ca.
