Monica Bradley and her cohorts have wrapped about 4,000 chocolate bars and 30 buckets of candy in preparation for Morinville’s debut of Boo at the Barn.

“I don’t know if parents will love us, but the kids sure will,” laughs Bradley, Boo at the Barn chair.

Morinville’s Centennial Celebrations Committee in partnership with the Morinville District Agricultural Society have combined their resources to host this premiere event.

And they are inviting all junior ghosts, goblins, witches, werewolves, superheroes, princesses and fairies to this spooktacular event.

Held this coming Saturday at the Sturgeon Agricultural Centre, Boo at the Barn will be charged with devilish tricks and ghoulish treats.

“We plan on having food and drinks and prizes for best costumes. There will be a craft area and a haunted house with goopy things kids love,” says event chair Monica Bradley.

Ten different booths will be set up for family activities such as icing Halloween cookies and building a scarecrow. “There’s a fear factor area where we’ll be blindfolding kids and having lots of fun.”

Bradley also mentioned every child will receive a centennial bag geared to Halloween safety.

“This gives everyone an opportunity for a safe, fun, family day. Some kids don’t enjoy going out and this gives them a fun, comfortable day to spend with their family.”

Hours of the event are 1 to 4 p.m. The agricultural centre is three miles east of Hwy. 2 on Cardiff Road. Admission is $5 per family and a donation for the Morinville Food Bank is requested.

Step into a surreal fantasy world with Beyond the Frame coming to the Morinville Cultural Centre on Oct. 7 and 8.

Beyond the Frame features mural-size paintings in a 3-D interactive exhibit complete with a whimsical forest and magical creatures. Targeted to kids, it’s also fun for adults too.

Space is limited. Call 780-939-7888 to reserve a spot.

Hours are Friday at 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday hours are 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
