Arthur Miller’s 1949 classic, Death of a Salesman, is a Pulitzer Prize winning American play that has inspired thespians since its post-Second World War debut.
In Death of a Salesman, Miller taps into the American psyche through the dysfunctional relationships of the Loman family. More importantly, this classic criticized the burgeoning quest for materialism that replaced the values of America’s founding fathers, something many felt was a betrayal.
The play captures the last few days of travelling salesman Willy Loman (Tom Wood) as he recalls memories from the past as he tried to provide for his family while pursuing the American dream.
In addition to Wood, the play stars Brenda Bazinet, Tim Campbell and John Ullyatt.
Death of a Salesman opens Thursday, Sept. 29 for a two-week run at the Citadel’s Shoctor Theatre. Opening night tickets are $83. Regular run tickets are $51 to $62. Tickets for preview nights for Sept. 24-25 and Sept. 27-28 are $24 to $56. Call 780-425-1820 or go online to: www.citadeltheatre.com.
