St. Albert’s Apex Casino will be rockin’ and rollin’ with the fifth annual Classic Car Tuesdays running every week from June 21 to Aug. 2.

On a warm night, the event attracts anywhere from 150 to 200 vehicles and anyone driving — or who is an admirer of — classic cars, hot rods, cruisers or muscle cars is invited.

“We have different cars showing up every week. This is an event that is truly different every week. We’ve even had people drive an hour-and-one-half to come here,” says Rob LeLacheur, Apex Casino general manager.

This weekly event was originally started to create buzz for Rock ‘N August, usually held the first week of August.

The event has grown exponentially from opening night when only five cars showed up. “It rained that night. Thankfully we had a vision of what could happen,” LeLacheur adds.

The three-hour event starts every Tuesday at 6 p.m. There is no charge.

In addition, the kick-off week includes live entertainment on Friday, June 24 with the band The Decades singing ‘50s and ‘60s pop-rock tunes. And on Saturday, June 25 at 9 p.m., tribute artist Robin Kelly performs his Elvis concert.

Throw together a nerdy florist, a Motown trio of street urchins, a blonde bombshell, a sadistic dentist and a hungry killer plant and you have Little Shop of Horrors.

This Two One-Way Tickets to Broadway Productions, now playing at La CitĂ© until Saturday, June 25, stars St. Albert’s Doran Werner as Seymour, in a role made famous by Rick Moranis.

A regular with Two One-Way Tickets, and a graduate of the Grant MacEwan musical theatre program, Werner has also starred in Walterdale’s Beautiful Thing.

Tickets to this Howard Ashman/Alan Menken musical are $26 to $28. Call 780-420-1757 or purchase at www.tixonthesquare.ca.

David Crawdad Canterra (harmonica/vocals) headlines Ammar’s Tuesday Night Open Stage along with Jimmy Guiboche (guitar/vocals) and Dave Bridges (bass guitar).

Crawdad has dabbled in music for the past three decades and is known for his gritty style on the harmonica when he lets loose with The Shade Tree Mechanics, Jimmy and the Sleepers, The Crawdads, The Fabulous Canola Tones and the Front Porch Roots Review.

Guiboche’s clean slide guitar style has inspired a host of young musicians and Bridges has played with the likes of Harpdog Brown and Rusty Reed.

The open jam runs at LB’s Pub starts at 9 p.m. No cover.
