The CPC SILKS are going to be getting a lot of hunky help for their upcoming annual fundraiser.

The Canadian Playboyz are lined up to make the eighth annual Guilty Pleasures event its best ever. President Lorraine Williams thinks that the all male revue should be an enticing incentive for many women to consider attending.

“They’re greeted by men in tuxes – with glasses of champagne – to wait on the ladies. There are men who will run and get your drink for you,” she began. “This is really all about our night out.”

The fun mingler also features games for prizes like jewelry.

SILKS stands for ‘Service in Love, Kindness and Strength’. It’s the all-women’s chapter of the local Canadian Progress Club. It is the only women's chapter of the CPC in northern Alberta. Chartered in 2006, its members are a diverse group of local businesswomen who focus their efforts on charities that involve women and children. These include the Special Olympics, Stop Abuse in Families and Uncles and Aunts at Large. The club also sends several children to Camp Warwa every year through the Dave Williams Memorial Fund.

Guilty Pleasures raises more than $15,000 every year to support those charities and community efforts.

The “Black and White”-themed ladies evening will be hosted by CTV’s Rob Williams. There will be delicious appetizers and dinner, of course, plus delectable champagne and chocolate. There will also be a silent auction and dance with a live DJ as well to keep everyone’s interest.

“The women love to get up and dance! Sometimes it’s a chore to get the ladies out of there … we’re having a good time, all in the spirit of raising funds for good causes.”

The 8th annual Guilty Pleasures event takes place on Friday, April 25. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the event starting at 7 p.m. It will be held at the Hollywood Ballroom in the Fantasyland Hotel at West Edmonton Mall. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased by contacting either Lorraine (at 780-490-8445 or [email protected]), Joan (at 780-458-7499 or [email protected]) or the CPC SILKS website. A $25 tax receipt will be issued for each ticket.

Visit www.cpcsilks.ca or email the club at [email protected] for more information.

The SILKS are always looking for new members and extend an invitation to any interested ladies to attend one of their meetings.
