The Ottawa-based MonkeyJunk concert at the Arden Theatre this coming Friday has been sold out weeks in advance. But organizers are opening the concert of these award-winning rock and roll/swamp bluesmen to any fan with access to the Internet.

Using Straight Line Video’s up-to-date technology, the Arden is live streaming the MonkeyJunk concert for people to enjoy in the comfort of their own homes. On Demand purchasers will have access to the event for 24 hours.

Instead of gathering in one location, this allows online eyeballs from across the world to view the performance through computer monitors or an iPhone.

“The opportunity to reach wider audiences in Alberta and beyond, virtually expanding the size of our venue, and allowing more people to enjoy the fabulous performances on our Arden stage is something we look forward to doing frequently in seasons to come,” said Kelly Jerrott, director of cultural services.

The Arden first introduced the availability of its video production and web-casting service to clients in 2014.

Staff conducted an in-house test during the Royal Wood concert in February 2015. However, this is the first public live streaming concert.

“The quality of Royal’s concert was quite spectacular,” said Troy Funk, senior marketing coordinator for St. Albert cultural services.

“It’s an interesting new way of looking at events, certainly for sold out shows, and it’s a new way to deliver the Arden experience.”

The system consists of four-robotically controlled high-definition video cameras mounted in strategic locations throughout the Arden Theatre. Remotely managed, it delivers a high-quality, secure web stream.

Fans can live stream the concert for $12. Visit ardentheatre.com for a link to access the Friday, April 17 concert viewed through Straight Line’s portal.
