Country singer-songwriter Dan Davidson’s cream coloured guitar prominently played during the video shoot of Barn Burner is up for grabs.
The St. Albert singer recently posted an Instagram video contest for anyone who would like to win the guitar.
“I’m really excited to do this. Music has been a big part of my life. It’s been my career. It’s where I met my friends. It’s nice to give back something positive to the world,” said Davidson.
All you need to do is donate $20 to MusiCounts, an education charity that promotes excellence and puts musical instruments in the hands of children most in need.

The former lead singer for rock band Tupelo Honey segued into country just a little over two years ago. And fans across the country have heartily embraced his whimsical, rollicking brand of classic country.
He just completed a tour opening for American singer-songwriter Chase Rice playing gigs at London Music Hall and Danforth Music Hall.
“We were sold out. It was definitely a very large crowd. People knew my songs and they were singing along. It was definitely a good feeling.”
Both Barn Burner and his first single Found have risen to the top 20 Canadian Country charts.
“Top 20 is a win. To say an independent artist has two top 20s is a win. I’m starting to get a lot of industry attention from managers and labels.”
This is not an idle boast. Back in January 2016, Davidson was the recipient of four Alberta Country Music Awards. Last week the Edmonton Music Awards also nominated him in four categories for Found: Single of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Country Recording of the Year, and Music Video of the Year.
On the national level, the Canadian Radio Music Awards promotes the hottest names across Canada, those considered a buzz barometer. To Davidson’s credit, he’s nominated in the Best New Country Solo Artist category.
Davidson is competing against James Barker Band, Meghan Patrick, The Washboard Union and former St. Albert resident Aaron Goodvin’s Woman in Love.
“2016 was hard to beat. I’ve never had so much attention. Now I’m pushing hard for a CCMA (Canadian Country Music Award) nomination. I think I’ve got a pretty good shot.”
Although excited about his career momentum, he’s taking the buzz in stride. If anything, Davidson is equally thrilled about the guitar-giveaway to some lucky kid.
“I do feel lucky. Not a lot of people get to continue a music career as a full-time job. And if I can be a positive effect on kids, that’s awesome.”
