Brent Rathgeber introduced Bregg’s Law, officially known as An Act to Amend the Criminal Code (public transit operators), as a private member’s bill in March of 2011, while he was still a member of the Conservative caucus. The bill received first reading but died on the floor when an election was called two weeks later. Sen. Bob Runciman reintroduced a similar bill in the Senate in May 2014. It received royal assent on February 25, 2015.

The Saturday Sept. 19 story in the Gazette on transgender students and toilets incorrectly quoted Kristopher Wells as saying “transgendered” and “all-gendered” and inappropriately used the word “transgendered” to describe transgender students. He actually said “transgender” and “all-gender.” Wells points out that just as one does not use the term “heterosexualed,” one should not use the term “transgendered.”
