Shakespeare in Love, based on the award-winning film that won Gwyneth Paltrow her first Oscar.
The original 1988 American period comedy-drama depicts an imaginary love affair between Viola de Lesseps and playwright William Shakespeare.
Directed by Daryl Cloran, Citadel's artistic director, this production harnesses forbidden romance, feuding playhouses, struggling artists and an imagining of events that led to
Romeo and Juliet.
In this co-production with Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, newcomer Andrew Chown is in the role of Shakespeare while Bahareh Yaraghi (
The Kite Runner) is Viola de Lesseps.
The cast of 20 includes Edmonton favourites Andrew MacDonald-Smith, John Ullyatt and Ashley Wright as well as two St. Albert Children's Theatre alumni: Garett Ross and Luc Tellier.

Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival
The Chinese Benevolent Association and various community Chinese organizations are welcoming the fall with the Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Winston Churchill Square.
The celebration of East Asian culture brings together a bazaar, folk music, performances, moon cakes, cultural games and activities. It is also an opportunity to learn crafts and make a lantern for the Lantern Parade starting at 8 p.m.
The family friendly festival begins at 2 p.m. with cultural performances and shadow puppets. This Chinese festival celebrates the Lady in the Moon and her reunion with her earthbound husband.
Traditionally families and couples spend time under the beauty of the moon sharing moon cakes and listening to legends about the Lady of the Moon and her companion jade rabbit.
A tour of South China Town is planned for 2 p.m. while a second tour of North China Town is arranged for 3 p.m. Registration is required.
