Folk music, funny improvisations, a walk into the past and a birthday party make up this week's Chatter.

Anaïs Mitchell first dropped in the local landscape in March 2012 when she toured
Hadestown at the Arden Theatre, an innovative five-year retooling of the Orpheus legend.
A tweaked
Hadestown makes its debut at Citadel Theatre on Nov. 11. In Edmonton for rehearsals, Mitchell will host a relaxed, intimate show at the Citadel's Club tonight.
Dubbed the "queen of modern folk music," the Vermont and Brooklyn based singer-songwriter will perform a series of poetic songs from her six albums, and a few from Hadestown.

Die-Nasty up and running for another season
Closing in on its third decade of soap opera comedy, Die-Nasty is set to play every Monday starting Oct. 23 until the final week in May at the Varscona Theatre.
This season the comedic improvisers pinch-hit
Dynasty, the 1981 American prime time television soap opera that revolved around the filthy rich Denver-based Carrington family.
While patriarch Blake Carrington was an easy-going dude, the bitch-fights between Krystle, his trophy wife and and his former wife, Alexis drove the plot.
Greed, seduction, betrayal and revenge are Die-Nasty's blueprint for humour and farce.

Destination plays Journey
The five-piece rock band Destination is gearing up to play a couple of cover sets from Journey, a ’70s American rock band that created an impressive discography of hits.
"They were one of the greatest American rock bands ever. They had some great songs like
Don't Stop Believin'," said keyboardist Robert Fernandez.
"Their music was all about high school, all about your first experiences, driving a car, freedom and the positive messages that went along with it."
Destination will be singing Journey's catalogue on Saturday, Oct. 28 at LB's Pub. No cover.
Jubilee's 60th anniversary
It's party time and the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium celebrates 60 years in show business. This coming Sunday, Oct. 22 the public is invited to performances by Alberta Ballet and Shumka as well as enjoying backstage tours and celebratory cupcakes.
