Cirque on ice

With an early winter blowing into the region, it somehow seems fitting that Cirque du Soleil would announce the arrival of its coolest show to date.

Crystal, the Cirque’s first arena ice show, comes to Edmonton’s Rogers Place from Feb. 13 to 17. It is the tale of Crystal, a misfit heroine who soars through a high-speed journey of self-discovery in a surreal world.

Crystal is an opportunity to see a different perspective of Cirque with world-class ice skaters and acrobats gliding across a frozen playground while defying the laws of gravity.

General tickets are available through www.ticketmaster.ca.

A glowing Christmas festival

Ever walked under a musical tunnel lit by 50,000 lights? If not, check out the inaugural Christmas Glow, a new festival coming to St. Albert’s Enjoy Centre from Nov. 22 to Jan. 19.

A creation from British Columbia's Darvonda Nurseries, it is billed as the largest indoor family-themed Christmas festival and has enjoyed stunning success where it originated.

The local event features a magic castle playground, Christmas light gardens, giant LED swings, a glowing locomotive, seasonal foods and treats as well as a festive market.

Christmas Glow is offering limited-time, early bird ticket pricing until Tuesday, Sept. 25, where select tickets are offered at 40 per cent off. Visit www.glowgardens.com.
