Neon Smoke Tour

There’s a few tickets left for Gord Bamford’s Neon Smoke Tour rolling into Fort Saskatchewan’s Shell Theatre on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

Opening for the multiple Canadian Country Music Award winner is Aaron Goodvin, a former St. Albert songwriter and recording artist for Warner Music Canada.

While Bamford has released some hot songs such as the Neon Smoke’s debut single, Livin’ on Summertime, which turned into 2017’s summer anthem, Goodvin has also climbed the charts with Knock on Wood and Woman in Love from his self-titled debut album.

Tickets are available at https://www.fortsask.ca/residents/culture/shell-theatre.

Jazz for kidney fundraiser

River City Big Band is sounding the horns to fundraise for the Kidney Foundation. Former Edmonton jazz vocalist Maria Manna is the featured guest in A Special Tribute to Natalie Cole on Saturday, Feb. 17 at The Oasis Centre.

Manna has helped raise $750 million for charities and is a two-time Governor-General's Award recipient.

She is also a huge fan of jazz icon Natalie Cole, who contracted Hepatitis C from heavy drug use, and died in 2015 from kidney and heart failure.

“She (Manna) tours with this show as a tribute to Natalie. She has the charts and we perform them for her,” said St. Albert trumpet player John Dymianiw, a long-time River City musician.

The concert starts at 8 p.m. at the Oasis Centre, 10930 – 177 St. Tickets are $35 rush seating. Call 780-420-1757 or visit www.tixonthesquare.ca.
