This week Lamb of God wraps up its winter tour with special guests Anthrax and supporters Deafheaven and Power Trip. However, there is no rest for the wicked.

The five-piece heavy metal band has announced its next U.S. headline tour starting April 1. And it includes seven dates in Canada with a stop at Edmonton’s Shaw Conference Centre on Sunday, June 5.

On tour with the fivesome are renowned rockers Clutch and heavy metal veterans Corrosion of Conformity.

Lamb of God received its fifth Grammy nomination in 2016 for 512, a track from VII: Sturm Und Drang, and as top-tier metalheads, they’ve toured the world countless times.

In its fourth concert of the season, the highly proficient Edmonton Youth Orchestra broadens its scope with opera.

Conductor Michael Massey has programmed An Afternoon at the Opera with Tatiana’s Letter from Eugene Onegin, Non so piu from The Marriage of Figaro and the Suite from Des Rosenkavalier.

Master composers honoured at this concert include Gioachino Rossini, Wolfgang Mozart, Peter Tchaikovsky and Richard Strauss.

Taking the vocal leads are mezzo-sopranos Tacha Speck and Maura Sharkey-Pyrma as well as sopranos Whitney Leigh Sloan and Nola Shantz.

Not one to do things quietly, country singer Colleen Rae is hosting an energetic CD release party for her new recording Look at Her Go.

Her newest release to radio, Quickest Heart in Town, will be one of the many songs she’ll be singing.

CFCW’s Stella Stevens will emcee the release on Sunday, Feb. 21 at the Sands Inn and Suites, 12340 Fort Road. Tickets are $20 at the door. Advance tickets are available by email at [email protected].

The Edmonton Metropolitan Chorus is preparing for their debut at Carnegie Hall with a preview concert at the Winspear Centre on Monday, Feb. 22.

The 150 mixed voices will sing Mozart’s Requiem and Allan Bevan’s ‘Nou Goth Sonne Under Wode.

There will be nearly 200 performers on stage. Joining the chorus is i Coristi, Tony Olivares Dance, FlyFree Movement, organist Jeremy Spurgeon and actor Timothy J. Anderson.

Sopranos Jolaine Kerley and Janet Smith, contralto Mireille Rijavec, tenor R.J. Chambers and bass Dave McCune will sing solo roles.
