Alberta Ballet presents Dynamic Directions
In Dynamic Directions, Alberta Ballet presents a mixed triple bill of contemporary ballet that showcases the choreography of Wen Wei Wang, Aszure Barton and Yukichi Hattori.
Wen Wei Wang’s world premiere of Futureland was inspired by the video game culture and is an abstract work that evokes the human search for the life force that drives us.
Aszure Barton’s Happy Little Things (Waiting on a Gruff Cloud of Wanting) explores all forms and shapes of individuals down to the roots of our animal physicality.
Alberta Ballet’s resident choreographer Yukichi Hattori presents (rite) set to Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. This is Hattori’s sixth commission for the company.
Dynamic Directions runs Feb. 19 to 20 at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium. Tickets start at $29. Call 780-428-6839 or at ticket.albertaballet.com.
