Virginia Woolf at Citadel Theatre
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Citadel Theatre is mounting Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, one of America’s great classics. Playwright Edward Albee’s visceral tale of a rancorous marriage was the Citadel’s first production in 1965.
Set on a small New England campus, a middle-aged couple invites a younger couple to their house for drinks after a faculty meet. As drinks are plied, the guests are drawn into the older couples bitter and angry relationship.
Directed by James MacDonald, this new version stars Brenda Robins as Martha (August Orange County), Tom Rooney (Who Has Seen the Wind) as George, Ava Jane Markus as Honey and Jay Clift as Nick.
The show runs until Feb. 13. Tickets are available at citadeltheatre.com.
