Paul-AndrĂ© Fortier, a recipient of the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for lifetime achievement, is internationally recognized as one of Canada’s foremost contemporary dance choreographers/creators.
For the past 40 years, Fortier has taken contemporary dance to new heights exploring space, time and technique all the while pushing his limits and those of his art.
On Thursday, Jan. 14 and Friday, Jan. 15, Brian Webb Dance presents Fortier Danse-Création at the Timms Centre for the Arts with Misfit Blues.
Fortier partners with the celebrated Reginan Robin Poitras for an intimate portrait of two people who express their enthusiasm and their failings. They love each other, good or bad. They sound each other out, challenge each other and manipulate one another.
One minute they are thick as thieves, the next they are bored. They enjoy a good laugh but tread daintily between candour and cruelty. They are tender, perverse, angelic and hilarious. They are misfits.
Performances start at 8 p.m. Single tickets are $35 regular and $25 for students/seniors. Call 780-420-1757 or online at tixonthesquare.ca
