Tourists are making the rounds in Ottawa this week for the 46th annual Juno Awards taking place Sunday, April 2.

Broadcast live from the Canadian Tire Centre, the award ceremony is the nation's most prestigious event celebrating the nation's top tier artists in the music industry.

Largely a self-congratulatory event, it also features stellar performances from Canada's best – recording artists such as the Arkells, Billy Talent, Dallas Smith, Sarah McLachlan, Shawn Mendes, A Tribe Called Red and Alessia Cara.

The Strumbellas, St. Albert's Seven Music Fest upcoming headline act, are up for three awards – Group of the Year, Single of the Year for Spirits, and Fan Choice of the Year.

This full-throttle band is also slated to perform their big hit.

Co-hosting the event is rocker Bryan Adams and comedian Russell Peters. The Junos will air at 6:30 p.m. on CTV and CTV GO.

St. Albert jazz trombonist-composer Allen Jacobson, pianist Tom Van Seters and bassist Josh Mchan are pooling their talents for an afternoon of contemporary original material at Ottewell United Church on Sunday, April 2.

"This is the first of I hope a long list of concerts for this chamber trio," said Jacobson, the threesome's driving force.

The sets combine an assortment of jazz charts ranging from a tribute to the late Bill Emes, one of Canada's most talented musicians, to a few of South African double bassist Johnny Dyani's most compelling works.

"The compositions are really gorgeous and they're in the context with an afternoon of reflections. Musically, they're very introspective and in a setting like a church, unlike a club where you get distracted by alcohol, the concert invites contemplation."

The 90-minute show starts at 3:30 p.m. Admission is by donation at the door. Ottewell United is at 6611 – 93A Ave.
