As early as the 1930's Polish jazz club owners in major cities such as Warsaw, Krakow and Poznan brought in jazz artists. Even with the communist takeover, musicians and jazz aficionados continued playing and listening to shortwave radio broadcasts.
Therefore it is only an extension of Poland's history that the Polish Culture Society of Edmonton presents a jazz concert featuring the Marcin Majorowicz Quartet on Friday, March 24 at the Polish Hall.
The ensemble is composed of Majorowicz (trombone), Josh McHan (bass), Jamie Cooper (drums) and Charlie Austin (piano).
Showtime is at 7:30 p.m. The hall is at 10960 – 104 St. Tickets are $10 to $20 available at 780-420-1757 or at tixonthesquare.ca.
