Once the creative force and songwriting power behind Pink Floyd, Roger Waters announces his first rock album in 25 years.
Is This the Life We Really Want? comes out June 2 on Columbia Records and will be followed with The Us + Them Tour starting in Kansas City on Friday, May 26 and running through to Oct. 28 in Vancouver.
Waters’ second last tour stop is in Edmonton on Oct. 24 at Rogers’ Place. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.ca.
Cameron Mackintosh’s spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera goes on sale today at 10 a.m. for the premiere engagement.
The touring production runs July 26 to Aug. 6 at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
Based on Gaston Leroux’s classic novel Le Fantome de L’Opera, the musical tells the story of a mysterious masked man who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House.
He exercises a reign of terror over all who inhabit it until he falls madly in love with Christine, an innocent young soprano. He devotes himself to nurturing her into a star and uses all the devious tactics at his command.

The Alberta Baroque Ensemble salutes Handel’s Water Music on Sunday, April 30 at Robertson-Wesley United Church.
The ensemble, also including St. Albert cellist Ronda Metszies and violinist Neda Yamach, performs this nature-inspired series of orchestral movements.
King George requested a piece of music that could be played at a concert on the Thames River. In July 1717, King George and several nobles boarded a royal barge at Whitehall Palace for a trip down the Thames.
Another barge filled with 50 musicians performed Handel’s music as the king’s party floated down the river.

The Jubiloso! Bells of Concordia are performing Blues, Rock and All That Jazz on Sunday, April 30 at the Robert Tegler Student Centre at Concordia University.
The 17-member ensemble, which include St. Albert’s Kathy Zalasky, will perform a wide range of music from jazz standards such as Fly Me to the Moon to ABBA’s pop hit Dancing Queen.
The ensemble also features composer/ringer Betty Radford’s award winning On The Boardwalk, an original composition featured internationally at last year’s world symposium.
