Renowned for its consistently high-quality, eclectic productions, Shadow Theatre introduces French playwright Yasmina Reza’s ART.
The comedy, which raises questions about art and friendship, concerns three life-long friends, Serge, Marc and Yvan.
Serge, who indulges his passion for art, buys a large, exorbitantly priced painting from one of the hottest painters around. Unlike, his other works, it is painted entirely in shades of white.
Marc, who fancies himself Serge’s cultural mentor, is horrified. The upshot is their relationship undergoes a few bumps resulting from their disagreements.
Meanwhile, Yvan is caught in the middle and tries to please both friends. The evening turns into a disaster, but it reveals a few truths about men, art and the bonds they form.
Directed by John Hudson, ART features three in-demand actors – Glenn Nelson, Frank Zotter and John Sproule.
ART runs April 27 to May 14 at Varscona Theatre, 10329 – 83 Ave. Tickets range from $18 to $33. Call 780-420-1757 or at tixonthesquare.ca.
