The 2017 Edmonton Music Awards were just made public and St. Albert has an interesting collection of recording artists involved.

Country singer-songwriter Dan Davidson is nominated in four categories: Single of Year (Found), Male Artist of the Year, Country Recording of the Year (Found) and Music Video of the Year (Found).

All Else Fails, headed by Barrett Klesko, received a nod for The Forever Lie as Metal Recording of the Year.

Hailey Benedict (Clean Slate) and Lia Cole (You Lost Me) are both up in two categories: as Rising Star and the People’s Choice determined by an online vote.

Kent Sangster’s Obsessions Octet was tipped with two instrumental nominations – Milonga del Angel for World Music Recording of the Year and A Matter of Time for Jazz Recording of the Year.

Three St. Albert virtuosos who are a regular part of the octet include cellist Ronda Metszies, violinist Neda Yamach and upright bassist John Taylor.

Additional People’s Choice nominees with local ties are Cadillac Junkies, Rebecca Lappa, Shay Esposito and White Lightning.
