Blackie and the Rodeo Kings are gearing up for the first phase of their 14-stop Kings and Kings Tour. Starting today at Toronto’s Massey Hall, it swings west with a stop at the Edmonton’s majestic Winspear Centre on Thursday, March 9.

Guitarist Darren Gusnowsky, one of the hardest-working musicians on the country scene, drops by tonight at Mark Ammar’s Saturday Night Sessions.
As one of the founding members of the award-winning Hey Romeo, Gusnowsky has developed a solid national reputation modelling his musicianship after the Rolling Stones album Exile on Mainstreet and the seamless harmonies of Crosby, Stills and Nash.

DJ’s Lounge and Cafe, a fairly new establishment that opened in November 2016 is introducing fresh acts to St. Albert’s nightlife.
On Friday, March 3, DJ’s hosts Jaedyn Pilon, 14, the youngest Elvis tribute artist to compete at the 15th annual Penticton Elvis Festival.
The Edmonton-based Pilon picked up the Elvis bug after performing at the 2015 Blue Suede Shoes Music Festival in Busby, and is currently a summer performer at St. Albert’s Farmers’ Market.
“He’s unbelievable – the moves he has whether it’s Johnny Cash, the Beatles or Elvis. From the first show, we’ve invited him to, he’s been a sellout,” said DJ’s manager Chris Oral.
The Elvis party runs from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at #105 – 50 St. Thomas St.
“We don’t run too late. We have condos above us, so we’re cautious about making noise. We’re part of the community and we want to be here a long time.”
Jordan Van Biert, never a conductor to stand still, celebrates Vocal Alchemy’s 15-year legacy with In Good Company at McDougall United Church on Sunday, Feb. 26.
The program presents repertoire from five centuries including classical works, folk music, spirituals and a number of Canadian composers’ pieces.
Soloists for the program include Ă©cole La Mission music teacher Catherine Kubash and tenor Nathan Bootsma. In addition, double bass jazz musician Josh McHan and St. Albert drummer Thom Bennett, two-thirds of A/B Trio, will accompany the choir.
