Festival Players celebrates the Family Day weekend with one of literature’s most beloved animal stories.
E.B. White’s Charlotte’s Web is a classic tale of friendship, trust and sacrifice as the bond between Wilbur, the farmyard pig, and Charlotte, the spider, sets the pace for this heartwarming story.
Wilbur is doomed for slaughter and only a miracle in the name of Charlotte saves him. She spins words in her web in an effort to convince the farmer that Wilbur is worth keeping.
The odd couple is joined by a series of other barnyard animals including Templeton, the shrewd rat, who teases the naÄŹve little pig about his friendship with the spider.
The barnyard life spins real emotions and teaches valuable lessons in camaraderie, devotion, sacrifice and life’s issues heightened only by Charles Strouse’s music and lyrics.
Charlotte’s Web runs Feb. 18 to 20 at Festival Place, 100 Festival Way, Sherwood Park. Tickets start at $16.50. Call 780-449-3378 or visit festivalplace.ab.ca.
