In the coming months, country recording artist Brett Kissel, plans to spend a lot of time in Alberta. First off, Kissel will perform at the Canadian Country Music Awards held at Rogers Place on Saturday, Sept. 14.
With three platinum and ten gold singles, two gold-certified albums, and 18 Top 10 radio hits, Kissel has become one of Canada’s most enduring singer-songwriters.
Following the CCMA's televised performance, Kissel has planned The Side You’ve Never Seen Tour. The first leg of the tour starts in Calgary on November 2 and ends Dec. 12 at St. Albert’s Arden Theatre. It focuses on 20 western Canadian cities.
The solo tour will take place exclusively in small, intimate venues Kissel hand-picked.
“I’ve always wanted to do a tour like this, me and my guitar, and share the stories behind the songs and the heart behind the songs,” said Kissel on his Facebook page.
Inspired by a Garth Brooks one-man show, Kissel discussed the possibilities with his manager. He pulled out a map of Canada and circled the communities he wanted to perform at. In between numerous engagements, album recordings and the birth of children, plans for the tour took nearly a decade to complete.
“These are all small venues hand-selected by me. They are casino show rooms, beautiful theatres and dance halls I’ve always wanted to play at, or played at and wanted to come back and perform in.”
Tickets for the Arden Theatre concert go on sale Monday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. They are priced at $58.49 to $81.99 and include GST. Tickets are available at the Arden box office at tickets.stalbert.ca or by phone at 780-459-1542.
