It’s been nearly 20 years since Lori Power was a regular reporter with the Gazette Press covering Morinville news. She’s proven her passion for words time and again ever since she started in media as a radio disc jockey.
Now, she’s making a return to print and she’s bringing all that passion with her. Hit ’N Run is her newest title after last year’s turbulent Storms of Passion announced a new talent on the romance novel scene.
“I have written my whole life,” she proudly professed.
You could almost hear her say, “and I’m not going to stop now!”
“I’ve always written and I have several completed novels.”
This one is set to hit the ground running. Hit ’N Run, she noted, is the first of a four-part series, a fact that should pre-warn readers that they’re about to get hooked on something good.
The story follows Lorna and Mitch: she’s a public relations executive and he’s an undercover cop. They were involved with each other in the past and the torrid affair certainly left its marks on each of their hearts.
When they cross paths after years apart, those pangs of yearning and lust easily reawaken. The problem is that Mitch is on a case dealing with drug smugglers and Lorna just might have some involvement with the ne'er-do-wells. What to do when matters of the heart and loins meddle with one’s sense of duty?
“Somehow, he isn’t convinced that she’s not involved. In fact, she doesn’t know that she actually is involved. It’s trying to prove her innocence without actually understanding how she became involved in it in the first place.”
Power is clearly having the time of her life writing out some of these fantastic fictions. In many ways it beats her days of crunching through newspaper articles. She’s also published a cookbook just to keep her non-fiction razor sharp, so to speak. Throughout all, she proves that she knows how to thicken a plot just as well as she can thicken a soup.
The reception is just as savoury too. She has garnered several five star reviews from Readers’ Favourite.
“That’s been really nice,” she said. “It’s been received really well. I’m doing really well on the charts of Amazon, which is really what you want at the end of the day. That, I’m happy with.”
The Tables Have Turned, the second title in the Under Suspicion series, is set to be published sometime during the summer of 2016. She has another book that will hit the market shortly, most likely around the Christmas season so fans should keep their ears to the ground.
