Tomorrow is the first Thursday of June and that means one big thing on St. Albert's culture scene: ArtWalk.
Whether you're already out in the Perron District to enjoy the Northern Alberta International Children's Festival or if you're making a special evening of it, there will be eight venues filled with art and imagination to receive you on what will surely be another glorious sunny near-summer evening.
The June ArtWalk runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Future ArtWalks will take place on July 6, Aug. 3 and Sept. 7. Visit www.artwalkstalbert.com for more information.
The Collective: #100, 43 St. Thomas St.
The Collective is featuring Natural Surrealism by Justin Erickson, a graphic artist and illustrator whose work has been featured in numerous galleries and events throughout the Edmonton area. He has received acclaim as a featured artist at two RAW Edmonton showcases in 2015 and 2016.

Sacred is an exhibit of works that painter Karen Blanchet describes as "Natural formations create lovely abstracts."
St. Albert Public Library: St. Albert Place
The REDress Photography Project will offer a sombre grace to the walls of the library for June. The images depict red dresses in trees, each dress representing the 1,181 missing and murdered aboriginal women. Edmonton photographer Mufty Mathewson has involved the assistance of other photographers from organizations including Images Alberta and the St. Albert Photography Club.
"It's just one of those things that raises awareness and honours those many, many, many women who have not been honoured before," she told the Gazette. "We want people to pay attention to the issue and get serious about it."
W.A.R.E.S.: St. Albert Place
Members of the St. Albert Painters' Guild will offer painting demonstrations in the foyer of St. Albert Place. Posters of the guild's 150th Canada Birthday project (featuring miniature paintings of Canada's feature spots) will also be available for purchase, and some 6-in. by 6-in. paintings will also be available for purchase at $20 each.
Musée Héritage Museum: St. Albert Place
St. Albert painter Douglas Fraser brings Euphoria, the name of his part of this joint exhibit. He is known for his harmonious treatment of colour, abstract sensitivity, inherent metaphor and poetic accompaniments. The former Artist of the Month's objective is to create fine art for all people to enjoy.
Photographer David Bowering spent four months embedded with military troops in Kandahar province and the Panjwai district of Afghanistan. The photos he took there show the soldiers and the Afghan people in the incredible landscape.
A Boutique Gallery Bar by Gracie Jane: 29 Perron St.
Last year, Gracie Jane Genereux brought her art downtown, starting a very casual, very artistic, and very fun bar to the scene. It's something you simply have to experience for yourself.
Art Gallery of St. Albert, and Rental and Sales Gallery: 19 Perron St.
Twyla Exner's Technological Wanders is an exhibit meant to explore "technology's potential to go awry, spawning mutant living forms that thrive in the manmade landscape." This two-month exhibit imagines the evolution of electronic devices. Tomorrow's opening will include an artist walkthrough at 7 p.m., with follow-up walkthrough tours on Thurs., June 15 and Thurs., July 20, each starting at 12:05 p.m.
Gerald Delorme is the featured artist for the art rental and sales gallery on the second floor. The self-taught graphite and watercolour artist focuses his work on the "continuing loss of history of the Original Peoples of Turtle Island," a geographical fixture known to many as North America. This includes his own family's history in early St. Albert with Father Albert Lacombe.

Duncan Hebert and Susan Berwald are representing the St. Albert Painters' Guild for the month.

St. Albert Painters' Guild members Sandy Mitchell, Laurena Beirnes, Carol Brown, Sue Scott, Crystal Maceachern, Andra Gavrila, Val Solash, Tom Steele, Pat Trudeau, and Kathleen Short will also be doing painting demonstrations in the foyer of St. Albert Place.
