During the summer, outdoor concerts are the hottest ticket in town. Knowing that, the Arden Theatre’s presenters have booked the third-annual Plaza Series, running every Thursday evening from July 6 to August 31.

In the past two years at St. Albert Place Plaza, music fans have jumped at the chance to listen to open-air concert. The Series' success has been attributed not only to the engaging talent, but also the refreshing seasonal relief of summer's long, warm evenings.

This year, presenters have booked a little bit of everything. The mostly regional acts will tee up, ranging from Russell de Carle, a distinguished country-roots-blues ambassador, to Aurah Ariko's contemporary Afrobeat jazz, and The Real Vntge’s R&B rhythms.

The complete summer’s Plaza Series lineup is:

• July 6 – Russell deCarle

• July 13 – Chris Ronald and The John Hewitt Trio

• July 20 – Emmet Michael and Amy Bishop

• July 27 – LUCETTE and Ryland Moranz

• Aug. 3 – Braden Gates and Inn Echo

• Aug. 10 – Good Neighbour Open Mic Night hosted by Amplify

• Aug. 17 – Paula Neder and The Marco Claveria Trio

• Aug. 24 – African & African Descendant Friendship Club presents Aurah Ariko and The Real Vntge

• Aug. 31 – Kaely Jade and Jay Gilday

Although every event offers ticketed seating for up to 150 people, free standing room on the plaza is available for anyone who wishes to pop by and enjoy the concerts.

Performances start at 7:30 p.m. on the plaza, 5 St. Anne Street. Tickets are $15 for general admission seating or $120 for a premium table for six. Ticket prices do not include GST and handling charges.

The only exception to the pricing system is Good Neighbour Open Mic Night. All individual theatre-style seating and premium seats are available for patron-determined value of $5, $10 or $15.

In the event of harsh weather, concerts will be moved indoors to the Arden Theatre. Tickets are available online at tickets.stalbert.ca or at 780-459-1542.
