The passing of an old year is an opportunity to feast with friends, clean house and pray for good fortune in the coming months.
In anticipation of New Year’s Eve, the City of St. Albert contracts Ariel Fireworks to shoot off large quantities of stellar fireworks. To describe the exploding light show as mesmerizing is an understatement.
The professionally designed fireworks will be launched Tuesday, Dec. 31 at the Meadowview Ball Diamonds. For a safe viewing experience, the ball diamonds will be closed to the public. Street parking along Mission Avenue will also be unavailable.
Thousands are expected to gather at numerous vantage points outside the immediate launch site. Several of the clearest sightlines are at City Hall, the Red Willow Trail, Children’s Bridge, Millennium Park, Lions Park, Seven Hills and St. Vital Ave.
Sponsored by Genstar, the vibrant extravaganza is free and starts at 8:30 p.m. It continues until the display is completed – usually about 12 minutes.
Due to limited downtown parking, St. Albert Transit offers on-demand bus service through a service app called StAT Book-A-Bus or by visiting stalbert.ca.
