Reusing pumpkins

Don’t know what to do with your pumpkins after Halloween? You can repurpose them for St. Albert Parish’s 3rd annual Pumpkin Walk on Nov. 1 and 2. 

Simply bring your carved jack-o-lanterns to the parish on Nov. 1 and volunteers will light and display them on a specially designated path north of the church.  

“The last time we had a Pumpkin Walk we received 650 jack-o-lanterns and about 1,500 people came to see them,” said Janet Bailey, parish event coordinator. 

“It’s an amazing atmosphere. It’s right beside the cemetery, but it’s not spooky. Imagine 650 lit jack-o-lanterns on the path. Some will be on the ground. Some will be on hay bales. The last time we had it, I was amazed at the talent out there.” 

The Pumpkin Walk operates two hours from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There is no charge to for a tour, however organizers ask attendees to bring donations for St. Anne Food Bank. 

“They are quite desperate and this year we chose to support them.” 

Pumpkins can be dropped off at St. Albert Parish, 7 St. Vital Avenue on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
