The Algoma District School Board invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Computer Technician (Summer Student):
Eligible Student Participants:
• Registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intends to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year in a relevant field of study: computer, business, math, engineering or science programs.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.
• Good computer skills and knowledge of current personal computer hardware and Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems.
• Basic understanding of computer networking (wired and wireless).
• Logical thinker with the ability to troubleshoot.
• Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee protection Act.
• Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
• Valid G Class Driver’s License.
• Ability to lift 40lbs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This summer job is an excellent opportunity for those looking for experience in the Computer & Information Technology field.
• General labour & moving of computer equipment and furniture.
• Computer & peripheral installation, hard disk imaging and configuration, network cabling and troubleshooting.
• Installation of software applications.
• Configuration of projectors with computers and AV equipment.
• Installation of peripherals and associated software.
• Reading and implementing computer plans for schools.
• Taking inventory of computer equipment.
• General tidying up of computer areas and installations.
• Some travel with overnight stays may be necessary to Northern and Eastern schools.
Rate of Pay:
$17.20/hour, 35 hours/week
