A Millarville couple pocketed $1 million after a recent lotto win.
Gary and Mergitte White bought the Western Max ticket at the Millarville General Store for a draw on June 13.
“I had asked my mom to check the ticket for us,” Gary told the WCLC. “She scanned it in-store but couldn’t get a hold of anyone to tell us."
After some phone-tag and poor cell reception, a family member reached the winners.
“I got a message from my daughter telling me to call grandma – urgently,” said Mergitte. “So, I did and then I got Gary on the phone, but at that point he had seen the missed calls and was panicking, thinking something was wrong.”
Gary said the win is surreal, and will allow them to hit reset on their finances, pay some bills, and share with family and friends.
“We’re going to help our daughters out with their schooling and go from there,” he said. “We’re hoping to get a trip in at some point, too.”
