RCMP hunting culprits who toppled 100 tombstones in Alberta cemetery

Mounties say some tombstones at the Innisfail Cemetery were damaged in suspected vandalism spree.

INNISFAIL, Alta. – Local Mounties are investigating a massive case of vandalism at the Innisfail Cemetery where about 100 tombstones were knocked over.

Innisfail RCMP said in a news release that a complaint of vandalism at the cemetery was received on Oct. 13.

The news release, authored by Innisfail RCMP Sgt Ian Ihme, said sometime over the previous evening unknown person or persons knocked over about 100 tombstones at the cemetery.

Some of the tombstones were damaged, said the new release.

Innisfail RCMP is continuing its investigation into the vandalism case and are seeking public assistance to identify the culprits.

Calls to Innisfail RCMP for more details into the incident were not immediately returned.
