RCMP arrest one of three teens suspected in armed thefts

Okotoks RCMP have made an arrest in relation to armed thefts last week. 

Two instances of armed thefts of pedestrians near Milligan Drive involving three youth were reported over the weekend, detailed in an Oct. 2 press release. During these robberies, items such as wallets and cell phones were taken, and police were considering the incidents to be related. 

Since then, one suspect has been arrested after Mounties spotted two males matching suspect descriptions during patrols, said an Oct. 5 press release. 

During the arrest, police found an airsoft pistol on the suspect.

The second suspect fled the scene, with RCMP Police Dog Services assisting to no avail. 

A male youth has been charged with the following offences: 

  • Two counts of robbery 
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offence 
  • Three counts of pointing a firearm 
  • Three counts of assault with a weapon 
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose 
  • Carrying a concealed weapon 

The youth was released from custody by a Justice of a Peace with conditions.
