One dead after glider crashes southwest of Calgary

A glider crash in Southern Alberta, left one person dead.

One person is dead following a glider crash east of Diamond Valley, about 50 kilometres southwest of Calgary, on May 29.

Emergency crews responded to the crash in a field south of Highway 7 shortly before 1:30 p.m.

Diamond Valley Fire Rescue Chief TJ Moore confirmed that one person was found deceased at the scene.

The body and the glider were both in the same field but separated by approximately 100 metres. 

An investigation is underway, and no further details were immediately available.

The glider came down within a few kilometres of the Cu Nim Gliding Club, but at this time no connection between the crash and the glider club has been made.
